Hornets 'delighted' with January window

After insisting last week that "Watford don`t have the luxury of signing players from Championship and the Premiership", Braveheart Watford boss Malky Mackay has admitted he is "delighted" with the transfers through the IN door at Vicarage Road...

...and rightly so.

The cash strapped Hornets have been more active in the January sales than most fans had even dreamed of with Martin Taylor, Will Buckley, wee Stevie McGinn and Heider Helguson all signing on - despite the club coffers are practically empty.

Mackay told the Watford 'fficial site that he was "delighted with the signings we have made", hailing the signing of Martin Taylor (from Birmingham on a free transfer) was "a real boost" and the £300k capture of Will Buckley (from Rochdale) as one of "growth and potential".

With the expensive heads of Mat Sadler and Nathan Ellington now hauling their huge weekly wage packets off to pastures new during the month and Henri Lansbury extending his loan from Arsenal, it has, in truth, been a good month.

The cash injections into the club have bought welcome relief for a while at least.

Still, with 2 days to go before the window slams shut a question mark hangs over the very talented head of Watford`s rookie keeper, Scott Loach. So, no doubt, the Hornets gaffer will want that deadline to come around fast with getting the phone call!!!
