Martin's Taylor made for Hornet's backline

Malky Mackay has bolstered his depleted backline by adding experienced centre half, Martin Taylor, from Premier League surprise package, Birmingham City.

30 year-old Taylor arrives on a free transfer and signs a 2 1/2 year contract with the Golden Boys.

At 6'4' Taylor will be head and shoulders above the rest of the backline and will add some much needed grit, experience and general nastiness to the Hornet's backline.

Nicknamed 'Tiny' by his Brum team-mates Taylor was the man at the centre of the Eduardo controversy in 2008 after breaking the Croatian's leg and dislocating his ankle at the same time.

During his time at St Andrews, Taylor made 99 league starts scoring two goals.

Taylor also has one England U21 cap to his name.

Welcome Martin!

On my list of realistic signings who could fit the bill I had Taylor & MaCarthy of Palace. Ideal signing IMO. Well done Malky, the squad for next season is shaping up ok given our ltd means.

"He ended last season on loan at Norwich City" - he played for Norwich in 2007, not last season!
