McGinn just the tonic for Watford

McGinn just the tonic for Watford

Watford are on the verge of signing highly rated Scottish U21 midfielder Stephen McGinn from St Mirren for an undisclosed fee with the SPL side`s official site already confirming the deal is done.

McGinn, who`s name has been linked with Braveheart Watford boss Malky Mackay`s Scottish revolution at Vicarage Road for some time, is all set to pop south of the border to agree personal terms over the next 48 hours (so that`s probably why the Hornet`s own 'fficial site is holding off announcing anything).

The 21 year old reportedly turned down a new contract in the summer and is rumoured to make commanded a fee worth more than £100,000 with the Saints boss Gus MacPherson admitting "it is a good move for him...the directors decided it was best for the club".

With 8 goals in 53 starts, McGinn might not be the free-scoring answer for when Clever Tom returns to Old Trafford but he is well thought of up and over Hadrians Wall so could have bags of untapped potential to tap into.

Welcome on board the Good Ship Malky, Stephen... just make sure you hold on tight!!!

Lets hope he is more of a Don Cowie than a Scott Severin?

Good point Rob. At 21yo I'd be disappointed if he was as as slow in the leg as Severin but, mind you, the Cow's form hasn't been too hot this season in truth.
