Malky linked to Turf Moor top job

Braveheart Watford boss Malky Mackay might have only 31 games under his newly adjusted managerial belt as he gets used to live in a Championship dugout but he has already been linked with a shot at the big time.

The Hornets gaffer is a surprisingly new name on the short list of suitors to replace Owen Coyle at Burnley as the speculation merry-go-round hits full tilt at Turf Moor.

This latest bit of tabloid tittle tattle comes courtesy of the Scottish Sun (that`s not something you hear much these Arctic days)who reckon our Malky "fits the profile of the young, dynamic, cash-conscious boss" of what the Burnley top brass apparently want in a candidate.

The Current Bun`s sports hacks also praise his "impressive fire fighting job" and reckon he`s "caught the eye" having "built an attractive side with little cash"

Admittedly, the footballing brain of Doncaster`s Sean O`Driscoll is still odds-on favourite for the Turf Moor top job from a field containing Lee Clark, Brian Laws, Gary Neville, Simon Grayson and, of course, the usual suspects of Curbishley and Ince.

Here at VitalWatford Towers, we would be surprised if Mackay did get the nod (and shocked if he actually did a 'Rodgers`) but both Braveheart and the Watford board should take the link as a huge compliment after a rollercoaster of a 6 month learning curve.

Brian Laws had gone. Couldn't really see him leaving to be honest, strikes me as an honest, genuine guy and he's waited for the job for ages anway.
