Hornets confirm Iceman exit

It might be approaching -5 in deep dark Hertfordshire (at least it`s not -10 just yet!) but that hasn`t stopped Icelandic hitman Heider Helguson leaving Watford to return home... to the 'not so` Super Hoops of QPR!!!

The Hornets have confirmed that the impressive Iceman has returned to his 'parent club` after his loan spell expired on 31st December and as yet an agreement hasn`t been reached to keep the Watford idol at Vicarage Road with new gaffer Paul Hart checking out all his options.

Helguson, who said his goodbyes to the Watford staff after the 2-2 draw with Bristol City, appears to have avoided a return to the lower reaches of the Loftus Road pecking order under the new management if a cameo appearance in the 1-1 FA Cup draw with Sheffield United is any indication.

Watford are still harbouring hopes of keeping Helguson at Vicarage Road and the player even admits that he "would like to stay" but is well aware that money`s too tight to mention these days, adding "I am assuming that money for players is right at the bottom of the priority list".

And after 5 goals in 8 starts, it`s no surprise that Watford now appear to have a scrap on their hands to land Heider with Newcastle now sniffing about as his contract comes to an end in the summer.

Still, if anyone is up for a fight then here at VitalWatford Towers, we`d fancy Braveheart boss Malky Mackay against well just about anyone really...

We'd also like to remind those Geordies that there is just something about the yellow shirt that brings the very best out of H and makes him want to jump through walls to be a Hornet!

It`s just a shame with all this "doing what is best for the club" mumbo jumbo we`ve all gotten just a little bit too used too over the last few months, Malky might have to do his er, scrapping with his hands tied behind his back!!!

Im sure HH would love to be with WFC, But economics suggest that if Newcastle or anyone else wants him, they can afford to pay his wages in full without getting a subsidy from QPR. With comments coing out of the club, it would seem that we have to get to the 47 to 51 points total for safety. with a transition next season with players leaving and new players in..

Would like MM to patch up the leaky defence if anything.HH would be a plus but we can not afford to keep conceeding the goals that we have been in recent times.I do think it's about time we had a decent defence. Would like some width in our play also, maybe its about time to try some diffrent player's,bennet and travner in defence and bryan or young in mid-field for some width.

I do tend to agree Golden. but i think this season has always been about surviving, anything else is a bonus. The High paid players will be gone at the end of the season, Demerrit, Hoskins. So then the cloth gets cut accordingly, hopefully.

Personaly would like to keep hold of jay demerit,on his day he is a real quality player. hoskins not really been given a chance has he,henderson,MM should be giving these boys a chance really. Due a win on sheff utd saturday

Demerrit is out of contract at the end of the season, a good world cup for him and he could get a good contract elswhere

It is likely with the way things are for us wright now.
