New interim Chairman Graham Taylor has tonight spoken to Sky Sports News and issued a stinging attack in the directon of his predecessor, Jimmy Russo.
The Watford legend has expressed his dismay and surprise at the Russo's rejection of Michael Ashcroft's rescue package:
'The Russos have decided to put the club into administration and will not accept an offer which is on the table,' he told Sky Sports News.
'If they accepted that they would be paid back in three to four weeks' time, I am at a loss to know why they are taking this course of action.
'I am starting to feel that there must be something malicious about them, they are putting the whole club at risk and this is unnecessary, this could be prevented - we have a situation available to us that would stop us going into administration and the Russos are refusing to accept this, why? We cannot get an answer.
'You have to think why? Does he see it as a chance where he can then come in and buy it back?
'This is the man that has been saying in the last eight to nine months he has the love of Watford, the heart of Watford, that he represents the fans - he has been saying all these things but he is now willing to put the club into administration when there is an alternative to that.'
The administrators will be called in as early as 8am tomorrow morning according to Sky Sports News and administration will be confirmed by Tuesday.
Taylor went on to confirm that he has spoken to ex-Chairman Sir Elton John and is keeping the music legend in the loop with regards to developments:
'I have spoken to Sir Elton John - and he is at a loss as to why this is happening,' Taylor continued.
'I have been in touch with Elton and he himself is more than disturbed the Russos are taking this action.'
