Manager Malky Mackay has today spoken out to ally fears that the Hornet's brighter talents will be sold off in January to try and keep the club affloat.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Malky issued a stern 'hands off' warning to prospective buyers:
'And as of at the moment I plan to keep players and the players that we want to sell have all been sold in August.'
'You can eye them all you want but at the moment they are my players and they'll continue to be my players until such time as a decision is made on them leaving the club.
'But right now I want to keep as many of my players as possible and make sure that we kick on in the second half of the season - as I said we make sure that we are competitive right the way through the season and finish as high up the table as possible.'
Mackay went onto confirm the club's AGM will be in two weeks time and in the meanwhile, the players are getting on with the football side of things leaving the monitary situation to the board:
'We have got an AGM in two weeks' time, the major shareholders will then decide on the future of the club.'
'Below that everything's going along as normal, there's nothing that's been different here than from day one of pre-season when I arrived as far as where the training ground is concerned as far as any impact upon the team, the players or the staff at the club.'
'So it's business at the top end of the club that has to be resolved and they can get on with resolving that.'
It's all very well and good, and admirable intentions from Malky, but frankly, I fail to see how else we are going to get anywhere near raising the amount of money required to keep the club afloat. Anonymous donation time anyone?!
