According to the result of Vital Watford’s online poll, Watford fans would like their team to face Leeds in the play-off semi-final.
With Leeds being the ‘out-of –form’ side going into the play-offs, over half of fans who voted said they would like to face Kevin Blackwell’s side. The West Yorkshire outfit have only took five points from a possible 18 in their last six games, scoring only four goals.
However, Leeds have the slight edge over Watford this season, playing out a goalless draw at Vicarage Road in October and beating nine-men Watford in controversial circumstances at Elland Road in February.
A quarter of fans who voted stated that they would like to meet Preston North End in the semi-finals. Preston won at Vicarage Road on the opening day of the season but were held to a 1-1 draw by Watford in October at Deepdale. Preston go into the play-offs as the form team, amassing a total of 16 points out of a possible 18 in recent games.
Under a fifth of fans who voted said that they would like to face Crystal Palace in the semi’s. Free-spending Iain Dowie’s outfit have beat the Golden Boys on two occasions this season, a controversial penalty saw Palace take three points at Vicarage Road in December whilst the Eagles beat Watford at Selhurst in March courtesy of two own-goals. They have collected eight points out of a possible 18 in their last six outings.
