Football League: Out of Cola

Football League: Out of Cola

The taps are dry! The Football League and current sponsors Coca Cola will end their six year association at the end of the current campaign.

It had been speculated for a while that the League sponsors would not renew their deal in favour of World Cup 2010 sponsorship opportunities and this has been confirmed as the case.

With E.ON deciding to end their affiliation with the F.A Cup at the end of this season as well, it is being mooted as a possibility that Coca Cola will sponsor the Football Association Challenge Cup after a spell as League Cup Sponsors a few years back.

Since teaming up with the Football League in 2004, Coca Cola helped re-brand the entire Football League structure bringing in the titles of the 'Championship', 'League One' and 'League Two'.

They also saw the Conference breakaway and become the 'Blue Square Premier'. They also oversaw the design of new Football League shirt patches and even went as far as introducing a special golden patch spin-off for the respective league winners the season after their triumph.
