Malky - Loach is England class

Rookie Hornets stopper, 'Great Scott' Loach, has followed up his impressive showing on national service with Stuart Pearce`s Young Lions by pulling off some heroics at Home Park to earn Watford all 3 points against Plymouth.

Loach, who is now first choice for England U21s following his unbelieveable early season form, made "half a dozen gilt edged saves" according Green Army chief Paul Sturrock but it was Braveheart boss, Malky Mackay, who was gushing with praise.

Mackay told the waiting press "He made 2 or 3 world class saves tonight and I don`t say that lightly. There were a couple of reaction saves that were just immense and that`s why he`s England U21 goalkeeper at the moment."

No wonder Tottenham were reportedly preparing a staggering £6m bid for the former Stafford Rangers, Morecambe and Bradford loanee AND that Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Aston Villa are all keeping a close eye on the Hornet`s hot prospect…

A fact not lost on the Watford boss however, who is desperate to keep Loach hidden away from the bright lights and er, bench warming in the big league - for the time being at least.

Malky added "He`s really maturing as a Championship keeper - and he needs this season here".

Yes Malky. Yes he does.

YOu are talking about the former goalkeeper who ended up working at T mobile aren't you?

Keepers mature later so we haven't seen the best of him yet. wouldn't surprise me if we favoured a deal with Man U though; to give them first option or perhaps a Sale / Loan back agreement next season, considering Malky's links with Sir Alex. But £6 million would be impossible to turn down....
