H's back & Healy's poised for Watford

H's back & Healy's poised for Watford

Cometh the time, Cometh the Iceman...

Watford legend, Heider Helguson, is set to become a double centurian at Vicarage Road after being reunited with the side who gave him his big break in English football, all thanks to a 3-month loan from those not-so-Super Hoops of QPR.

...and that`s not all.

David Healy is "prepared" to make the long trek south from Sunderland to build a frontline worth getting all het up about in Hertfordshire.

Hitman Helguson, who made 199 appearances for Watford in his first spell in WD18 before being packed off to the bright lights of Fulham, has fallen out of favour with Rangers boss, Jim Magilton, and straight into the arms of the glory hornet faithful who adore him.

Yes, Heider`s not quite the player he was 8 years ago when Sir Graham Taylor plucked him from Lillestrom and yes, he`s had a few injuries of late but if it`s experience & 100% commitment that Malky Mackay wants then it`s a great move.

And, if rumours north of the Watford Gap are to be believed, then Helguson could soon be paired with Sunderland outcast David Healy - despite the W`Observer suggesting that Helguson`s loan has put an end to the Hornet`s Healy chase.

Reports in the North East are rife that Healy is ready to leave the Wearside wilderness for Watford imminently with the over-eager sports hacks at the Northern Echo even suggesting that "the Northern Ireland international is poised to join the Hornets on a temporary basis..."!

Ok, so there`s plenty of if`s and probably`s in the whole Healy hunt - with Cov, Newcastle and Ip`switch still vying for his signature - but if it does happen , what a great big man, little man combo to get excited about (and that`s even forgetting Danny Graham might have a thing or two to say on the whole matter).

He's been poor at best since joining us - here's to hoping he can get some goals under his belt at a crowd and a club that will give him time.

Silly as it may sound but do we really need Healy at the moment??

With the amount of players that have left the club and i am not talking about the quality ones, we are very thin as a squad, players will get injured and players will need resting, so the more the better.

As a Northern Ireland supporter, I know exactly what David Healy can do. After all, he scored the most goals in the last European Championships (13 in all) including a hat-trick against Spain. Healy should have moved to the Championship last season. Being a bench-warmer (at best) in the Premiership has really dented his confidence. All I can say is if Healy goes to Watford, give him a chance. He may not do much for the first couple of games but once he settles in he will be scoring for fun. I believe that his lack of form over the past season for Northern Ireland was due to him not playing regular football which has cost us qualification to the World Cup finals. Lets hope he makes the move and becomes a hero for Watford.
