Hornets swoop for Cathcart

After th loan additions of Tom Cleverley and Henri Lansury in the transfer window, Malky Mackay has boosted his depleted squad further by dipping back into the loan market.

Forer Plymouth centre back and Northern Ireland U21 international, Craig Cathcart has arrived to plug the holes in the Hornet's backline.

Cathcart spent last season on loan at Tuesday's opposition, Plymouth Argyle, making 33 appearances for Paul Sturrock's men. The Manchester United protegee had been linked heavily with a loan move to Newcastle United to replace Seb Bassong, but has plumped for Watford instead.

Belfast-boy Cathcart will not be joining up with the Hornets until after Tuesday's game with the Pilgrims leaving Dale Bennett likely to continue at centre back.

Cathcart is on-loan until January 4th 2010.
