Hornets courting Cathcart loan

Hornets courting Cathcart loan

Watford are on the verge of signing Man Utd defender 'cool as` Craig Cathcart on loan for 3 months…despite Sky Sports reporting that the Northern Ireland U21 centre back has come back from international duty injured!!!

Malky Mackay`s men are desperately short of defensive cover so the loan capture of Cathcart looks, on paper, to be a shrewd move with the 6ft 2 defender the right calibre of player to fill that large 'Williamson` sized hole in the Hornets rearguard.

'Cool as` Craig is dubbed as "a traditional centre half - good in the air, strong in the tackle" - by the official Red Devils site and has plenty of experience, having played 33 games on loan at Plymouth last season and spent 13 games for Royal Antwerp at Manchester United`s grooming school in Belgium.

So it all looks good… until you head across to the Sky Sports website, who reckon Cathcart has returned to Old Trafford with a hamstring injury sustained whilst out in the Czech Republic with the Northern Ireland U21s.

Rupert Murdock`s meddling sports hacks now suggest he`s set for spell on the sidelines - compounding a bad week for Cathcart, who saw a move to Newcastle collapse on transfer deadline day.

This weekend will be a real test, if we cant beat the bottom club with our threadbare team then its curtains for us this season and if we get a result what happens in spring when the loanees go back? are we in any position to actually buy a player who hasnt got o wonky leg or over the hill?
