Leeds not out for Watford revenge

The Yorkshire Post reckon Leeds are out to "plot revenge" for THAT 3-0 Play-off humiliation at the hands of a rampant Watford in the Millennium Stadium but the current crop of Dirty Leeds talent aren`t having any of it.

Tonight`s Carling Cup clash at Elland Road is the first time the 2 sides have met since that wonderful, wonderful afternoon when the Hornets ran riot and "destroyed [Leeds] Premier League dream" (or so the Yorkshire Post so eloquently put it).

However, the noise coming out of the Leeds camp doesn`t quite match the pre-match hype played out in the papers with the Lilywhites skipper, Johnny Howson, insisting that "the players here aren`t thinking 'we owe you one`.

Hmmm, you might not be Mr Howson but every sports hack in the country has just that headline penned in and ready to roll over the wires comes 9.30pm tonight!

According to LUTV (they must be the only League One club with their own channel), the young Leeds skipper said there was no talk of cooking up a dish best served cold to Malky`s men.

Oh no, it was all a bit level headed and lacking sentimentality really…

Howson, who watched on in horror at Cardiff as the Hornets turned it on stated "…a lot has changed since then. Its not like it`s just happened or it`s just around the corner. It`s over three years ago…".

And the fresh faced Leeds captain added "…other than the goals and that Watford played really well, I don`t remember too much about it... we just want to win the game to keep our run going".

Here at VitalWatford Towers, we have to agree to differ - Dr Watford still gets the shivers when he recalls that ball bouncing back off Sullivan and into the net and flashbacks of Hendo`s penalty continue to make us go wild…

3 years ago? Nah, it`s like it was yesterday!

We've moved on since then, although clearly you lot haven't! As for "every sports hack in the country has just that headline penned in and ready to roll" ..... well, I think you're overestimating just how interested the average sports hack is in this fixture. Just a little bit ..... And I think you'll find that "The Lilywhites" is the nickname of Preston North End, not Leeds. But then you Southerners are always pretty vague about anything north of the Watford Gap, aren't you .......

If your willing to call us 'dirty leeds' then you have to expect some sort of reaction?... Came on here to read the oppositions report on us not because we care how you are doing as a club... We weren't having a rant at you-plural. We were 'ranting' at this idiot of an Editor DrWatford who wrote an article looking for a reaction because his site needs all the hits it can get!

Being 1-0 up sure will help though...Youguys are nothing special to be honest! Still unbeaten in Elland Road since January so we have every right to be confident...Anyway 40 minutes left...We will see who is standing by the end of it

The Mighty Whites weren`t firing on all cylinders tonight (like we were against Burnley and co.) but at the end of the day a win is a win. Shame Leeds didn`t win in 90 mins but so what?

Went pound for pound with a strongish Championship side so fairly encouraged by the performance...Can't really call that revenge though...Im still hurting from that loss all those years ago!

God the bloke that wrote this is an idiot. Of course the match three years ago will be mentioned, it's the last time we played one another! Leeds don't hold any resentment towards you, why would we? You've never done anything. We didn't turn up that day and gifted you the biggest victory in your entire history. The only bad feelings I hold are towards the players that simply didn't give enough.
