The Yorkshire Post reckon Leeds are out to "plot revenge" for THAT 3-0 Play-off humiliation at the hands of a rampant Watford in the Millennium Stadium but the current crop of Dirty Leeds talent aren`t having any of it.
Tonight`s Carling Cup clash at Elland Road is the first time the 2 sides have met since that wonderful, wonderful afternoon when the Hornets ran riot and "destroyed [Leeds] Premier League dream" (or so the Yorkshire Post so eloquently put it).
However, the noise coming out of the Leeds camp doesn`t quite match the pre-match hype played out in the papers with the Lilywhites skipper, Johnny Howson, insisting that "the players here aren`t thinking 'we owe you one`.
Hmmm, you might not be Mr Howson but every sports hack in the country has just that headline penned in and ready to roll over the wires comes 9.30pm tonight!
According to LUTV (they must be the only League One club with their own channel), the young Leeds skipper said there was no talk of cooking up a dish best served cold to Malky`s men.
Oh no, it was all a bit level headed and lacking sentimentality really…
Howson, who watched on in horror at Cardiff as the Hornets turned it on stated "…a lot has changed since then. Its not like it`s just happened or it`s just around the corner. It`s over three years ago…".
And the fresh faced Leeds captain added "…other than the goals and that Watford played really well, I don`t remember too much about it... we just want to win the game to keep our run going".
Here at VitalWatford Towers, we have to agree to differ - Dr Watford still gets the shivers when he recalls that ball bouncing back off Sullivan and into the net and flashbacks of Hendo`s penalty continue to make us go wild…
3 years ago? Nah, it`s like it was yesterday!
