Malky: Watford dominated Blackpool

They say that stats don`t lie but clearly Braveheart Watford boss, Malky Mackay, thought that OPTA data crunchers had made a few errors on their abacus he insisted his Hornets 'dominated' the 2-2 draw with Blackpool "came to defend and frustrate".

Watford might have just edged possession with 53% of the ball but it was the dogged Seasiders who racked up plenty more efforts on goal than the home side - but those vital stats were obviously filtered out by Mackay`s yellow tinted spectacles.

The Hornets gaffer told the dogearred sports hacks "...we dominated the game for large periods and to create the chances we created and test their goalie on so many occasions is signs for great optimism...It was frustrating that we created so many chances and let the game slip - we should have won".

Braveheart added "...the woodwork and the [Blackpool] goalkeeper had an awful lot to do today, and long may that continue!'

'The fact that that we created so many chances means that the team are going in the right direction and that has to be seen a very positive by me.'

So it must be a case of quality over quantity for Malky, who`s Watford notched only 10 shots on goal to Blackpool`s 17 - an impressive haul for an away side, who were worthy of their point...

A fact not lost on Tangerine boss (no not Phil Brown), Ian Holloway, who dismissed Malky`s view of things, insisting "...he [Mackay] can have a look at the game again - if he thinks I`m going to come here and defend against Watford he`s got another thing coming...'

Oooo, handbags!
