Watford goals will come - Malky

Braveheart Watford boss, Malky Mackay, reckons it`s only a matter of time before the Hornets start hitting the high notes in front of goal by insisting "the goals will come".

The Hornets might have chalked up 3 goals to boot in 3 games so far this season (ably aided by some dodgy goalkeeping at Barnet) but clear cut chances and creativity has been short on the ground thus far.

Not that it`s a concern to Malky mind you!

Oh no, even after a worse than average performance in the comprehensive 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United, Mackay surprised us here at VitalWatford by suggesting he was "happy" with his Hornets.

Braveheart told the 'fficial site "As long as I`m seeing decent build-up play and running about in the box, then I think the goals will come".

He added "I think we had good build-up play and the lads were trying to work the ball into the net rather than just taking a strike on it".

Hmmm. Here`s thinking we might not be in for a goal-fest at WD18 this season!!!

Not to dis-heartened to lose the game,Seff utd were much better team on the day. Do have a couple of moans though, the two goals were just to easy it was like schoolboy football at the back. The first goal doyley was no were near his marker when the ball shoot across goal, the blades player had all the time in the world to finish it off. Because doyley was in no-mans land it only took the one touch to see it off.The secound goal was just as bad, marriapa this time not picking up his man on the right, and for some reason was going for the same player jay demerit had covered. Giving evans all the space he needed to do the job! just should not be happening at proffesional level. Fair play to the blades, they done what they set out to do. For watford we was not even at the races saturday!

We've not started the season well and need to turn it around quickly; we need to resolve the Tommy Smith situation as it's doing us no good whatsoever (ie sell him to Reading for 1.5M) and get a replacement striker in for Priskin to help Graham. I agree with the previous comments about Doyley; he is a hard worker but without a left foot he is a liability at left back. I am also concerned about the speculation surrounding Williamson without whom we'd be in even more trouble. Forest will not be an easy game tomorrow night, they were unlucky to lose to WBA on Sat. Come on You Golden Boys!

I think we all know that we will not be setting the league alight, If MM is seeing the team improve and he thinks the goals will come, then lets wait and see for a few games, If we can get something tonight and we see an improvement V Blackpool and some goals, then maybe he is right, it is way to early to talk relegation just yet. Im with the rest of you, It has gone on to long with Tommy Smith and Russo has talked some crap lately
