Now Toon want Watford's Williamson

Newcastle don`t appear content with just being linked with 1 Watford centre back in Jay Demerit, all thanks to those meddling sports hacks at the Sun….

Oh no, its far worse than that! The Geordie`s local rag of choice - The Shields Gazette - reckon it`s actually towering defender, Mike Williamson, they`re after!

And the voice of the Toon are evening quoting that Chris Hughton is ready to splash out a cool £1.5m on the former Wycombe centre back.

That would be a profit of £1.4m in just 7 months and such a sum is bound to raise a few eyebrows if it lands on the fax machine at Vicarage Road.

Let`s face it Williamson has already been a big plus with the season only days old with MOTM performances in the first 2 games (+ a goal at Barnet) and some fans are even suggesting his departure would be more painful than that of Tommy Smith.

But the £100k capture has the subject of speculation all summer with Brum, Reading, Wolves, Stoke and Hull all linked with him at some point by the redtops so we can only hope the board decide he`s too important to let go!
