Rovers to reunite Roberts with Duke?

As soon as we heard that Nathan Ellington had gone on trial to a Premiership club, admit it you all thought "how did Paul Jewell get back into top flight management"?

But it now appears that Sam Allerdyce is the lucky man with the chance to take Duke on a season long loan from Watford, after the W`Observer revealed that Ellington is on trial at Ewood Park.

Big Sam might not be as naïve as we all think, mind you. Surely he`s looked at Ellington`s goalscoring record alongside current Rovers frontman Jason Roberts and thought it worth a shout.

Duke and Roberts created damage left, right and indeed down the centre as a partnership when their ferocious frontman pairing single handed fired Wigan to the Premier League (a few seasons back) but neither has hit the high note since.

Maybe reuniting Ellington with his preferred striking partner could prove to be a shrewd move by Allardyce…

…and it would get him off the Watford wage bill as well.
