Hornets closing in on new striker

Watford are about 48 hours away from signing a new frontman according to the highly likeable Hornets head honcho, Jimmy Russo.

And boy, is it needed. With Tamas Priskin`s agent touting him about a bit, Rasiak`s return to Southampton and Theo Robinson`s seemingly imminent departure for Swindon (or is it Huddersfield?), Watford look decidedly short on numbers up top.

So it`s a bit of relief in truth to hear the Watford chairman state that "we are very close to signing a new striker in the next few days".

Ok, we don`t quite know the name or calibre of the frontman involved - god help it could even be Trevor Benjamin again - but hey, at least we`re poised for some action.

And it doesn`t end there. Speaking to the W`Observer, who insisted 'the transfer merry-go-round is gathering pace`, Russo was also quick to reassure fans that "we have obviously got some targets" and "there will be a few more arrivals and departures" over the next few weeks…

Just a shame he had to ruin it all by mentioning those dreaded words "balance" and "books" in the same sentence!!!

Looks like smith is on his way and they will use the money to get one in, but he will be difficult to replace.
