Wolves enter race to sign Superman

It was only a matter of months ago that Brendan Who? was declaring his undying love for his "Superman" Tommy Smith and it was only a matter of weeks ago that Reading were heading the chase for Smudgers signature…

Now it seems that the right Royal shower at the Madjeski are getting a bit jittery that they just might not be the destination of choice for Watford`s Tommy Smith after all!

It now appears that newly promoted Wolves have reported rocked the boat by declaring interest in the Watford wideman and Reading`s hopes of landing Smithy for a reported £750,000 look remarkably dodgy.

Still, the Reading Evening Post are adamant that Tommy wants back under Brendan`s wing "even if it means missing out on a return to the Premier League"…

The local rag`s sports desk even have the cheek to assume that Smithy "would love to link up again" with Brendan Who? in Berkshire…

A piece of advise if VitalWatford may Tommy…. If you are to leave the hallowed turf of your hometown club, you`d look much better in gold and black than that nasty tainted blue colour.

there is always going to be speculation for tommy smith, smudger's been in exceptional form the last two season's.What championship side would not want tommy in there team, only derby would say smithy is a bad wing wizard.I can not see him leaving the vic,he has moved before, only to return home again. But what do i know at the end of the day,You never know whats going to happen in football.Specially with the club hard up for cash.

I think even Derby would have back as he was voted their player of the season when he was there, i'm afraid that the fee could be close to the mark, his contract is up at the end of the season and we could lose him for nothing! On a brighter note, it was a commanding performance from Demerrit last night (USA V Spain) to think we were trying to get £200K from Charlton from him. hopefully a lot more now, if we do have to sell him.
ANDY710
i hope we dont have to sell smith or demerit weve done some good business selling players who dont feature in malkys plans ie half a million for williamson a fee potentially rising to 275000 for theo robinson got kabba of the books if we can sell ellington for a cut price deal then we should be laughing and should be looking to hold on to the likes of smith and demerit

He would be better off with the Wolves.
astraltrader
i agree ellington would be much better off with wolves how much do you want to give us for him

Watford have turned down 2 bids of more than £1m already from a Prem club (Wolves?) and a top end Championship side (Reading?) - W'observer reckons a bidding war will start now...

im with wrexham hornet,no matter what the cost we need to keep our prime assets, just think with no tommy or jay were only going to be half the team we were last season,no matter who we try and bring in there no way there going to be as good.Like andy710 said smithy contract will be up at the end of next season,so it is possible a good offer will be accepted. The championship going to be even tougher this season. If we can not keep tommy smith, jay demerit, and tamas prisken we could be in trouble.

When the clubs go public with regards to turning down bids, you know that it is inevitable that the player is on his way, it's a case of which club is he going too. Would Demerrit be a big loss? If you can get a return on a player who cost nothing and make profit, then that has to be good business, we are short in defence, so as long as these players leaving are replaced with the quality of players like, williamson, we should be ok for the season, fingers crossed.

HANDS OFF!!!!! Tommy's our number one best player... If he goes we will go down....
