Watford: Long wait to boo Brendan

Watford fans will have a long ol` wait to boo Brendan Who`s return to the Vicarage Road - to the very last home game of the 2009-2010 season in fact…

…then again he`ll hopefully have been sacked with Reading`s promotion challenge in tatters by late April anyway.

The Hornets open the new season by entertaining Doncaster Rovers at the Vic but Malky Mackay faces a baptism of fire with tough away games against Sheffield United, Swansea and Forest all pencilled in to the opening 4 weeks of the season.

Elsewhere (and being careful not to flaunt copyright regulations around the publication of fixture lists) Watford will end with a visit to the Ricoh Arena (a decent hunting ground in recent seasons).

The stupid computer that churns out the dates clearly is having laugh giving us Tuesday night trips to Plymouth and Blackpool whilst the usual "Norwich on a Tuesday" deal has become "Ipswich on a Tuesday …twice".

For those with one eye on the North Eastern clubs - a nice festive trip to St James (just send the missus off for a spot of Xmas shopping in the Metro Centre) starts December off nicely whilst Gareth Southgate heads south to his hometown in late, late March…

Sorry it`s all so very vague but the credit crunch has struck and we can`t afford the ridiculously priced licence fee to publish the Football League fixtures…
