Its Malky - Watford set to name boss

Its Malky - Watford set to name boss

Ah, the Watford board have decided a bit of braveheart spirit is required in the Hornets managerial hotseat and are expected to name Malky Mackay as the new gaffer on Monday.

Reports are circulating that the rock steady centre back was "90 per cent guaranteed" to succeed Brendan Who? and when the BBC run the story suggesting they have word from "club sources" you know an announcement is just around the corner.

You can trust an institute like the BBC.

Mackay, who won the hearts and minds of supporters as as part of the play-off winning side under Aidy Boothroyd, also showed enough during a 6-game reign as caretaker manager back in October to suggest he can cut the Championship mustard.

A 3-0 win over the not-so-Super Hoops of QPR certainly raised a few eyebrows.

With a host of names seemingly in the frame and also 50+ applications for the Vicarage Road vacancy there will always be speculation that Mackay was 'the cheap option` but hey, it cudda been a darn sight worse with a few of the usual suspects lining up.

Yes, the 37 year old will need a decent right hand man as his assistant and yes, only time will tell if the board have made a bold but decent choice going with inexperience again.

one thing is certain, we can expect a whole lotta passion with the odd bit of blood and thunder thrown in for good measure

Dr Watford, tried getting in touch via e-mail but no joy. Just wondering if I could come back on board VitalWatford; my e-mail is tombodell@hotmail.co.uk if you're interested. Cheers.

The easy option but perhaps not a bad choice at this time. Malky generally comes across well and the players were certainly supportive of him when he stood in for Aidy last year, when they played with the "3 P's" - Pace, Purpose & Passion. More of the same would be excellent. So good luck Malky and let's hope the Russo's make some progress in their discussions with Ashcroft; so you have is a reasonable squad to manage. Come on You Golden Boys!
