Williamson makes Blades switch

The now traditional summer mass exodus of Watford players to the heady delights of South Yorkshire has already stared in this close season with Lee Williamson moving to Sheffield United.

Williamson, who was widely tipped to join Preston North End after impressing on loan at Deepdale, has instead been lured by the pull of Kevin Blackwell and signs up at Bramall Lane for a fee of £500,000.

The deal is expected to be announced as 'fficial by both clubs shortly.

It is also reported by the W`Observer that the Blades have had a bid for free-scoring midfielder John Joe O`Toole turned down by the Hornets…

Are the winds of change which sees John Joe back in favour under a new boss starting to turn at Vicarage Road or are the club just holding out for a larger figure?

Only time will tell.

Another one off the wage bill! if MM is to become manager, i really hope that his number2 is someone with a lot of knowledge, about players available etc

A fair price for a decent player, served us well and I wish him good luck, however it seems we are becoming Sheffield United's feeder club yet again! Remember Tony Currie, Colin Franks & Co in the 70's?? - and we thought times were hard then!

A fair price,he is a good championship player..just worried about the middle of the park,we falling short on options. don cowie really the only decent centre mid that is guranteed to be here next season. Like the look of tisdale for manager,he has been terrific at exeter fc

1881, i fear it may be the latter, we all know how dire the club is in need of a cash injection, with season ticket money already in and the club still looking at having to sell players, we could be in a worse position in jan. i suspect all players that have been signed under aidy, will have to be sold to rid the club of high wages. In return the signing of players on free's is im afraid going to be the norm.

500k is a pretty good deal for williamson but will he get into the first team? don't think he will - my feelings are we could have put this money to better use. we are just adding numbers to the squad instead of adding required quality to get us up!!

i thought john joe would be with u blades next season,he is a promising player who can come up with the goods.Wlliamson is more technical than john joe,and has plenty of championship games under his belt, williamson does not score many goals,But his technique, passing, tackling is very good.
