I must look good on paper - Hessy

Andy Hessenthaler reckons he must look a bit tasty to the betting public after odds on him becoming the next manager of Watford drifted in from a tantalising 20-1 to 4/7 nailed on favourite.

Even SuBo was backed at such an alarming rate!!!!

The current Dover Athletic gaffer is being well tipped from each and every corner it seems to fill the Vicarage Road vacancy and his move from rank outsider to odds-on front runner has surprised even Hessenthaler himself.

With some bookies closing books on his appointment and many a reputable high street bookmaker offering odds so short they`re scary, it would seem to suggest an announcement is imminent - but Hessenthaler is just as bemused as anyone else.

The Hornets former engine room general told the sports desk at Kent News, "I`ve definitely had no contact from Watford. I haven`t a clue why people have been betting on me so much. Maybe 20-1 odds for a former player who has managed at Championship level looks a good price on paper".

Ah, see what he did there? Sold his credentials and got the crucial bit about him having decent level managerial experience across in a thinly disguised flash.

The man`s a PR genius. Let`s just hope that the Watford board are listening…
