'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Will Watford board go for a Burton?

There`s plenty of noise this morning coming out of South Wales (and it`s not the traffic congestion on the M4) that Watford could turn to Cardiff City number 2, Terry Burton, in their hunt for a new gaffer.

Burton, Dave Jones` right hand man at Ninian Park, is a surprise new name in the frame for the Vicarage Road vacancy but logic does seem to suggest the Bluebirds coach could be a strong contender for the job.

The former Wimbledon gaffer & Arsenal Youth coach was a key player in the Hornets backroom team during the dark days after Vialli and was instrumental in pulling Watford out from financial ruin with Ray Lewington in the 2002-2004 seasons.

So he`s worked on a budget, worked to shake off the shackles at a club with a long ball history and he`s also highly regarded as a bit of tactical mastermind who likes his sexy football.

If Jimmy and Vince Russo want a "Watford man" in the seat who knows the culture of the club then they could do a lot worse than Burton…

…even if he is only 3ft2.

I think we Bluebirds would rather you looked elsewhere .. Terry is a key member of our management team - without him, our chances of success next season are diminished .. and he's getting shorter too so please look away ..

interesting - Burton really seems to split fans opinion with plenty of Bluebirds fans suggesting he's the route cause of the most of the dire football.

There is no doubt that Burton has some qualities, but he did leave wfc and Lewington in the crapper, when he left first time around! as for your comments Wrexham, your spot, i really thought we had a season to enjoy! hey, but its not all doom & gloom
