Saint McInnes on Hornets hitlist

Watford are apparently eyeing up St Johnstone manager (and former Baggie midfielder) Derek McInnes as a replacement for Brendan Who? in the Vicarage Road hotseat.

McInnes, who took over the reigns at McDiarmid Park when Owen Coyle upped sticks for Burnley, has achieved promotion in his first season in management after lifting St Johnstone out of lower league obscurity back into the SPL.

And the speculation hungry team at Scotszone reckon the former Millwall, Rangers, Dundee United and West Brom midfielder has been "selected" by the Watford board as of 1 of 3 shortlisted candidates to fill the vacancy at Vicarage Road.

The former Scottish international has all the right ingredients though to appeal to the Watford way of life - at 39 he`s young, hungry, used to working on a budget, has experience coaching kids as the U19 coach at St Johnstone and has lost just 14 games in 73 as a gaffer!

But he`s also gonna cost a few bob as well no doubt! He signed a 2½ year contract in November 2007 so it could all be down to compensation again.
