Gibbs: I'm ready for Watford job

The legend that is Nigel Gibbs insists he`s "ready to go into management" after completing the necessary bits and pieces to appease UEFA but will wait to hear what the new regime have to say for themselves at Reading first.

Just be warned Nigel… What the new regime say might not be exactly what the new regime mean!!!!

Speaking to the London Paper, Gibbs, who unlike some we might mention, was loyal to Watford for 23 years (let alone 192 days) stressed the opportunity to move into management would be too good to turn down and stated "it's flattering" to be linked to the Vicarage Road hotseat.

Gibbs said "I`ve got my pro license. I`m ready to go into management now. I`ve really enjoyed the coaching side of it but I`ve got to wait and see what Reading have to say".

The legendary full back has only 3 weeks left to run on his contract at the Madjeski Stadium and with Brendan Who? desperate to take Dean Austin with him on his destined voyage of failure in Berkshire, Gibbs might well find he is surplus to requirements.

Truth of the matter is, Gibbsy would be welcomed back to Vicarage Road in any capacity and at 14-1 well you just wouldn`t bet against this happening either!

gibbsy, was a bit before my time, but i know he was a commited well respected watford player, and i know he played under taylor for most of his time..so he could be top bet for the job at hand,i remember when taylor was in his secound spell at the vic, luther and jackett were on his coaching staff. wonder if he would consider luther as coaching assistant. dean austin and frank lampard have departed with rodgers,im sure malky is still in the frame

Bringing in someone with strong links to the club would be a good move for sure. Nigel Gibbs was treated shabbily by the old regime a couple of years back and could be part of the new setup, although not sure about straight in manager. I think Jackett's recent new contract with Millwall probably rules him out, as we're unlikely to want to part with compensation - and the same goes for anyone else under a long-term contract. I guess that won't apply to Andy Hessenthaler at Dover? although the Salad Bros may have something up their lettuce sleeves.....?
