Helland stings Hornets in Holland

Helland stings Hornets in Holland

An unknown 19 year old, once compared to the great Roberto Carlos and dubbed as "the best left foot in Europe", gave Watford`s Under 19 side a rude awakening in the opening game of the highly acclaimed Copa Amsterdam.

Pal Andre Helland - a player on the fringes of Rosenborg`s first team - netted a classy hat-trick from centre midfield as the Norwegian outfit outplayed the Watford kids to win 3-0 in front of the Dutch TV cameras..

It was a bodyblow for the Hornets hot prospects who headed to Holland with high hopes of doing well in the "high level tournament" but with a double header, including the might of Real Madrid, still come in the group stages they now face an uphill battle to restore some pride.

Still, Sean Dyche was indeed correct when he said "it`s a real good test for the lads against what you`d say are top-end elite clubs…"

It`s just with the likes of Ajax, Real Madrid and Chelsea involved, VitalWatford really didn`t expect to bought down to earth with such a bump by a set of Scandinavian boys still wet behind the ears.
