Pearce beams up Scotty for Sweden

Watford keeper Scott Loach can pack his bags and head for the homeland of saunas, smorgasbords and Sven Goran Eriksson after being named as a surprise inclusion in the England U21 squad for next month`s European Championships in Sweden.

Loach, who has only chalked up under 20 minutes in goal for the Young Lions, wasn`t even on Stuart Pearce`s radar before making his England debut in February but has clearly impressed enough as the Hornets` first choice to take his place in the 23-man squad.

There`s little doubt that Loach will find it hard to weedle his way through the safe hands of Joe Lewis [Man City] and Joe Hart [Posh] but it`s a remarkable rise to fame having seen off a clutch of young keepers - including Manchester United rookie stopper Tom Heaton - for the position.

Young Scott, who turned 21 on the day the squad was announced, will join former Watford loanees Adam Johnson and Gabriel Agbonlahor in the touring party when it heads out to Sweden for Group B clashes against Finland, Spain and Germany from 15th June.

It`s gonna be some summer for the lad.
