Watford`s war cry that they were supremely confident of securing the services of striker Grzgorz Rasiak for next season now look decidedly way off the mark after reports that other clubs are closing in on the Pole star.
Well, thank you Mark Wotte!!! If the Saints gaffer wanted to alert the footballing world to the fact that Rasiak was available by insisting he wouldn`t be allowed to leave St Marys on the cheap, then boy, has he got his wish!
According to many a source, there are now as many as 20 or so clubs circling the Pole Star waiting to make their move - with Sheffield Wednesday, Cardiff and Forest the latest to be linked!
And with interest mounting and the administrators keen to get the high earners off the wage bill down on the South Coast, Watford could well find themselves priced out of a move that just 10 days ago they had almost convinced us was in the bag.
Let`s face it, Rasiak might well "really want to come" to Watford. He might well "love it here and want to stay" as we keep getting told through the club.
Simple truth is he`s not out of contract (despite reports to the contrary), he`s reportedly on £10k a week, Saints seem hell bent on playing hard ball on price and we aren`t gonna find £750k down the back of a sofa at Vicarage Road any time soon.
Still, whilst Brendan Rodgers remains positive of "finding a solution which fits everybody", VitalWatford shall remain positive.
As one former gaffer used to say each week to the fans…Keep the Faith!
