Is Bailey on ice for Watford switch?

Is Bailey on ice for Watford switch?

The speculation season has arrived and first to be dunked into the ink pot of players names that fuels the sport hack`s rumour mongering pen of choice is Charlton`s Nicky Bailey.

Watford are apparently "weighing up" a summer swoop for midfielder Bailey on a season-long loan deal according to the London Paper.

The same source reckons that the Addicks` free scoring midfielder "is desperate to get back in the Championship" … though the Kent Messenger has him quoted as saying there`s "nothing he can do" about the transfer speculation.

In fairness, the London Paper isn`t a rag that usually deals in transfer tittle tattle so let`s hope there is smoke where there is fire in this case.

Bailey is exactly the type of player that should have caught the roving eye of Watford boss Brendan Rodgers - free-scoring, honest, creative all packaged up with a willingness to graft and stick his foot in.

The Addicks` £750k signing from Southend last summer has been the league`s surprise bargain buy despite Charlton's ill-fated campaign - walking away with 13 goals to his name, the club`s Player of the Season award and a place in VitalWatford`s Alternative Championship Team of the Season to boot.

Let`s hope this one does run and run (unlike the link to Dele Adebola late last week)

Despite our Board making a succession of poor decisions, I cannot see them agreeing to a loan....a sale yes, but not a loan.
