Lloyd banks new Watford deal

Put the 'Save Doyley from a summer exit` petition on hold. Postpone the stampeding of the club office in support of keeping Lloyd at the club… Lloyd Doyley has put pen to paper on a new 3 year deal with the Hornets.

Only last week, Lloydinho confirmed that he was close to signing on the dreaded dotted on the proviso that there were "a few little things to sort out". Now that he`s had his little things have been 'sorted` (presumably they included having a 20-goal a season clause written out of the contract) it is now confirmed that he`s finally committed to the club… with a testimonial thrown in for good measure.

That will be some celebration in 2011.

The popular left back, who we can only imagine was 12th man on the PFA`s shortlist for Championship Team of the Year, will stay on at Vicarage Road until 2012 despite looking all set to be moved on in the summer when Brendan Rodgers took over in November.

Even Doyley admitted that "Back in January I wasn`t sure what was going to happen" but his performances since have taken the league by storm and forced a once indifferent Brendan Rodgers to admit that Lloyd Doyley "will be Mayor of Watford"!

It just goes to prove one thing Brendan - first impressions aren`t everything.
