Watford boss: Doyley shudda scored

Brendan Rodgers insists that Lloyd Doyley "should have scored" at Coventry today after the left back, who has never scored a goal at any point in his career, missed a clear cut opportunity in the 3-2 win.

Doyley, who by his own admission 'doesn`t even score in training`, has been the butt of fans gags for years with plenty of money being piled on him each and every Saturday at crazy odds to be the first goalscorer.

Now it seems the gaffer expects him to ripple the net with every opportunity he gets such is his comfort on the ball when getting forward.

Speaking after seeing his left back blaze a chance high and wide from 8 yards and only the keeper to beat at the Ricoh Arena, Rodgers stated "[Lloyd] should have scored, which I said to him…that would have made the journey home even better for the fans!...".

The gaffer did go on to point out that Lloydinho`s "cross-field passing and techniques were wonderful" and thankfully Doyley`s 'miss` (if we can call it that) didn`t prove costly as the boys ran out 3-2 winners with Rodgers rightly proud of the performance.

But even the gaffer couldn`t help adding "…the only thing that would have capped it off would have been a Lloyd Doyley goal!".

Sure, he can say that now that we`re clear of the trapdown to League One.

Never in any doubt that we were gonna go down! lol at the start of the season if we had finished 4th bottom i would have been very happy, the new regime and have got me looking forward to next season and i nver thought i'd be saying that again.
