Watford eyeing up Saddlers swoop?

Watford`s ever roaming eye for a bargain basement signing might be about to come up trunps again with the Hornets linked to a pair on Walsall youngsters after 'spies` were seen at a Saddlers reserve game.

The Express & Star have suggested that Watford are rumoured to be preparing a summer swoop at the Banks Stadium with full backs Netan Sansara and Richard Taundry the little known targets.

Given the tight purse strings we`re ruling nothing out and on the face of it both players, no matter how far under the radar they sound, actually sound like Brendan Rodgers type of players…

Left back Sansara, 19 is out of contract in the summer and has only managed 10 games in League One but has all the attributes that would have the gaffer wetting himself with excitement. Described as "adept in possession" and with an England U18 cap to his name the boy can play a bit - and the lad`s not short on confidence either, insisting he wants to make the England U20 squad for this summers` World Cup in Egypt.

Then there`s the small matter of Sansara`s 3 A-Levels and we know just how much of a sucker Rodgers is for "footballers with intelligence".

20 year old Taundry on the other hand has versatility in spades - another of Brendan`s penchants! The lad only turned pro in May 2007 but has chalked up over 50 appearances for the Saddlers - despite only managing 5 starts in 2009.

The pair seem so unlikely that there`s bound to be quite a lot of truth in this.

And, in all fairness to the Midlands finest local rag, the Express & Star usually are pretty reliable as a source in truth - just ask their sports desk who first broke the news that Jordan Stewart was off to Derby last summer?
