Hornet boy pipped to Apprentice award

Watford`s up and coming midfield mainstay Ross Jenkins just missed out the Young Apprentice of the Year accolade at the Football League Awards last night.

Jenkins was 1 of only 3 2nd year apprentices in the country to be shortlisted for the Championship Manager-sponsored title - alongside Southampton`s Oscar Gobern - but both lads hadn`t done quite enough in the eyes of the 'expert panel` who handed the award to Palace`s Sean Scannell.

Then again with Steve Claridge amongst the so-called 'expert panel` Hornets` starlet Jenkins would have been hard pushed to win it anyway!!!!

Players were judged on criteria such as their playing record in all competitions since being an apprentice, their educational performance, disciplinary and any other outstanding achievements…

Jenkins has chalked up 30 league and cup starts for the Hornets this season and is one of the first names on the teamsheet these days at Vicarage Road…

Sean Scannell on the other hand will now, no doubt, make a impromptu switch to Spurs` reserves for a fee of £35k ruled by tribunal, never to be heard of again!!!!

Beware a touch of the ol' Bostocks Mr Scannell!!!
