Watford's Willo departs for Deepdale

Watford gaffer Brendan Rodgers has packed midfielder Lee Williamson off to Preston North End for the remainder of the season on loan….presumably to get him off the wage bill.

The out of favour Reggae Boy has had to stick it out on the sidelines at Vicarage Road in the last few weeks and a switch to join Alan Irvine`s Lilywhites seems a good deal for Williamson.

Not that the Deepdale faithful are at all pleased mind you. Ok ,so the Lancashire Evening Press bigged it up stressing that PNE had snapped up a 'Watford ace` but fans have been quick to suggest it`s a "rushed panic signing to fill a gap".

Seems a bit harsh though - Willo has chalked up 78 appearances for the Hornets,m netting 5 times since his move from Rotherham - but has managed just 4 starts since the start of the New Year.

There was plenty of speculation that Willo may well have been on his way to Portman Road in a swap deal for Macedonian midfielder Velice Sumulikoski but a move to the north west and Preston`s Play Off push is a better bet for both player and club.

Didn't score the goals like he did with Rotherham, tried his best when playing, so i wish him luck
