Rodgers expects Rose to blossom

Rodgers expects Rose to blossom

Watford snapped up Danny Rose on loan from Spurs yesterday "with a view to next season" and already Brendan Rodgers has high expectations for the budding young playmaking talent from White Hart Lane.

The exciting, attack minded left-sided midfielder, who is rumoured to have cost Spurs £1m when he moved from Leeds last year, is highly prized by Tottenham and is being "fast tracked" towards the first team according to our friends at VitalSpurs

But Brendan Rodgers reckons he`s had his eye on ol` Danny boy for a little while. The gaffer told the official club site "He is highly thought of in this country and at the time I first looked at him he decided to stay at Leeds and then later on, went to Tottenham."

Of his new recruit, Brendan beamed "He is a highly talented, committed player and is left-sided. He has been on my radar for some time…As a footballer he has got a big talent".

And if that wasn`t enough, Brendan added

Hmm, a potential replacement for Jobi or an option to play in the 'hole` behind the strikers if Smithy moves on? What do you think?

you could be wright doc,i think he will play in a forward roll,i dont think he will drop jobi, although it sounds like danny rose is a left side-midfield player,if so brendon obviously fills were still short in that area, tricky one if brendon does decide to drop jobi, could upset the balance of the team, which has been very good of late, and i hope ur very wrong bout smithy,i think we would have made more use for a centreback or centre mid.was there any truth in the estonian defender coming in on loan?

the Eatonian has come in on trial - Rodgers will be looking at a host of CBs on trial over the coming weeks all with "a view to next season" I presume...

I think this is conformation that some established players will be leaving in the summer to be replaced by cheaper options. Better prepare ourselves and hope there is enough in the coffers to retain Smithy....

I think it is fair to say that quite a few of the players will be on there way this summer, im not sure who is out of contract and the ones that are not but are highly paid, will we be able to commad a fee for them? O'toole, a good fee i would hope, but others? Hoskins maybe, Willo? i guess, its a wait a see.

Rose was expected to really push on this season but his knee injury has really set him back, I would say that he is a great young player, very quick, skillful and also happy to put his foot in as a more cebtral midfield player if needed, although left or in the hole are where I feel he is best suited. One work of warning I would suggest, is that too much isnt expected to soon and you may not see the best from him until next season (if as claimed the option is agreed). the fact he has only played two and a half games means he may not be fully on his game, but dont write him off he is a very good player..
