Captain America fit for US duty
Watford club captain Jay Demerit has been given the all clear to "party in the city where the heat is on" and head off for international duty with the USA…despite hobbling off in the Hornets 0-0 draw at Portman Road.
Brendan Rodgers is confident that the Yankie centre half is fine and [doodle] dandy to join up with the US Mens national squad at their Miami training camp ahead of the forthcoming internationals with El Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago.
Rock steady Demerit, who complained "his foot went a bit numb" after a point-preserving last ditch tackle on goalbound Tractor Boy Jon Stead has missed out on squad selections for 2009 internationals against Sweden and Mexico after a injury riddled last few months.
But Rodgers told the official club site "At this moment Jay is fine and will travel on his international duty with America next week".
It remains to be seen whether he can force his way into the US starting 11 though after an impressive start to 2009 for the men in stars and stripes.
