Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has tipped "wonderful prospect" rookie keeper Scott Loach to be a "top keeper" after seeing him produce miracles at Portman Road… but then had a pop at his kicking!!!
Scott single handedly put to bed Ipswich`s play-off hopes and earnt the Hornets a valuable away day point in Saturday`s 0-0 draw with a string of top class, top drawer saves as the Tractor Boys racked up 23 shots at goal.
Brendan Rodgers told the world and his brother that Loach has "got all the attributes to be a top goalkeeper. He`s a good athlete and gets around the box but he also makes saves - which is the bottom line".
The Hornets gaffer added of the recently called up England U21 stopper "He`s a wonderful prospect for the future - he comes in every day with a hunger and determination… he`s always willing to learn".
The Mirror has even dubbed him a "man mountain" and some of his saves as "heroic" in their morning report whilst the ever so likeable Jim Magilton said that he was "fantastic".
High praise indeed then but that`s not quite the end of the story. Oh no, Brendan Rodgers was quick to ensure that Loach`s feet were still firmly on the ground despite insisting he "deserved his clean sheet".
The Watford boss (presumably with tongue firmly in cheek) barked "For Scott today his kicking wasn`t very good and I have told him so"!
In truth though, here at VitalWatford Towers we`d take some pretty dodgy distribution if Loach keeps everything out for the rest of the season.
And surely you would too Brendan?
