Loach & Lloyd in line for new deals

Watford boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he is in talks with Scott Loach and Lloyd Doyley about contract extensions in the summer.

Offering a new deal to rookie keeper Scott Loach has always been on the cards what with the now England U21 stopper being a clear winner in the race for the Hornets No 1 jersey with Richard Lee.

But a new contract for Reliable Lloyd Doyley shows just how hard the, er, unorthodox right back has worked to change the managers initial impression of him.

Even Rodgers admits that "Lloydinho" "didn`t fit into my way of working" but assures us all now that "defensively he is one of the best players I have seen at any level"

It remains to be seen whether Doyley does actually go on to be "Mayor of Watford" like Rodgers predicts but hey it`s refreshing to see that the boss has an open mind and is honest enough to admit that his first impressions might not always be right!

The club have also confirmed that talks are "ongoing" with Adrian Mariappa about a new contract and there`s plenty of noise out of Rodgers that he is the right man to develop young talent and that Watford is the best place for him to learn….

Rodgers also added "If he looks at the deal, especially as he likes life here personally, he is playing regularly, he is learning every day, the manager has trust in his work and the people here will help develop him."

…which all in all kind of leads us to suggest that maybe, just maybe, Mariappa`s head is being turned by offers from elsewhere!
