Rodgers eyes Watford reinforcements
It only seemed liked yesterday that Watford boss Brendan Rodgers stated he "was in no real hurry" to add any additional loan reinforcements to his new look Hornets.
Now with 6 fringe players leaving for pastures new, Harley facing suspension and Mssrs Smith, Demerit and Rasiak all spending some quality time with medical messiah Andy Rolls and his magic sponge, Rodgers has been forced into a rethink.
In fact, the Hornets gaffer not only reckons he needs a couple of new faces to freshen things up for the run in but believes they`ll arrive at Vicarage Road in no time at all - as long as they get the green light at their parent clubs.
Rodgers told the folk in the know at the W`Observer "I am still trying to get one or two in for the final ten games and we are hoping to do that fairly soon. We are just waiting for the go-ahead from the clubs outside of here."
One name already doing the rounds is flying winger Miroslav Stoch at Chelsea - who almost joined the Hornets before Christmas (only for an injury to Joe Cole to put pay to a loan move).
But the young Slovak will probably have to wait his turn despite Smith`s injured knee.
Aleks Cauna can`t have failed to catch the eye with his first goal for the Watford stiffs in midweek and, anyway, Rodgers has confirmed that "a midfielder and a defender are the priority just to make sure we are right for the run in".
Rodgers is right to focus on bolstering Watford`s already threadbare backline (Michael Mancienne or James Tomkins anyone?) but is a midfielder really on the cards?
Seems strange that Brendan believes we could find a spot for another engine room grafter after shoving Eustace, Bangura and O`Toole out of the door marked 'exit` in recent weeks!
Still, as long as the name Liam Brid'crab' isn`t bought in from the Blues again and Rodgers keeps up his decent record of quality recent signings, all will be ok by us.
