Forest boss Billy Davies might be getting his excuses in nice and early for tonight`s 6 pointer with Watford after insisting his merry men will have to be ready for a "very difficult pitch".
The Hornets playing surface at Vicarage Road has been under heavy scutiny in recent weeks - and put paid to Swansea`s clean passing game just a couple of weeks back - but hey, it`s a real leveller as Chelsea found out and it`s the same for both sides.
But that wasn`t just Davies` only argument mind you. Oh no, The Tricky Trees gaffer also had a pop at the state of the ground in general.
He told the Nottingham Press sports hacks "They are a competitive side and it will be very similar to Birmingham and Reading in that it will be a very difficult pitch to play on and not the best surroundings with one of the sides currently down".
Davies, who reckons the improving Hornets only have "one or two very good players" also added "…pyschologically we know what we are facing tonight, we have to be prepared for the surroundings, the surface and we have to be very positive…".
The Nottingham Evening Post even have the cheek to dub the Hornets home nest as "a poor pitch and an old stadium"!
Do they forget that Forest really aren`t famous anymore?
Whilst Vicarage Road might resemble more a building site than a Championship ground in certain areas, we certainly aren`t talking portacabins for changing rooms or poor facilities for fans! (There's a big screen don't you know.)
Then again if you`re drumming it in over the tannoy ahead of every home game that you are 2 times European Cup winners and 2 times FA Cup winners (albeit before many of the current squad were even born) - you too may be misguided into thinking you were still a big club!!!
