'I'm not Watford's Abramovic' - Russo
New Watford chairman Jimmy Russo has thanked the fans for their patience following the boardroom wrangling at Vicarage Road but insists he`s no Roman Abramovic…
Chelsea fan Russo took charge at the helm of the Hornets new look board, alongside his brother Vince (Vice Chair), yesterday to a fanfare of fans support who are only too happy to see the pair in the top jobs at Vicarage Road.
But the Hornets faithful have been warned not to be too optimistic about the riches on offer.
At a fans forum last month Jimmy told supporters 'Going forward there is only so much we can do, I am no Roman Abramovic. We have invested a high proportion of the net worth we have'.
And yesterday Watford`s new Italian top man stated '…I want people to be under no illusions as to the task ahead'.
The Russo`s - who made their fortune through family run business, Valley Grown Salad - confirmed they 'initially' ploughed around £3.5m into the club but that figure is now close to £10m after 2 spells on the board if you believe everything you read.
£10m??? Why that`s a lot of cucumbers isn`t it!!!
And the good news is that the pair promise to 'learn from the past' and bring back a whole bunch more integrity to the club after being lured in by the 'feel good factor' at Vicarage Road.
Local lad Jimmy added 'I wouldn't come back on the Board if we didn't feel we could genuinely contribute something. We can deliver, but you have to be patient and understand we are taking on a difficult situation.'

1881 i must take solace with what you have written. You know he is a fan, if it wasn't for EJ, we could still be in the bottom div doing a rochdale. Ok, so as far as we know he has not publicly given money to the club and looking at our accounts, you have to wonder how we managed to get so many players in on loan. Hell, the man even went out and bought 2 players for Ray Lewington and they left the club for nothing. Danny webber was brought in by other directors with a view to being sold for a profit, for the directors, not the club. so i know you may feel a bit irritated by your thoughts of EJ, but he isstill very much part of this club. also, he asked the fans years ago to help with the cost to build the Rous, very little response and he ended up financing the build himself, he also did not take a salary as a chairman. just because on this occasion, you have not seen him be public with his money. it does not mean he has not played some part
