Jimmy Russo - part 1 of the all conquering Salad Brothers on the Watford board - has taken over as the man at the helm of the Hornets after being confirmed as the club`s new chairman.
Russo`s step up from executive director was confirmed to the Stock Exchange yesterday afternoon, though the appointment has been made early suggesting there is plenty of support backing Jimmy in his new role.
Brother Vince - who alongside his brother owns almost 30% of the share in Watford Leisure PLC through their own business Valley Grown Salad - has also been named as Vice chairman…. presumably to keep it in the family!!!!
It`s been a long wait for Jimmy who has never been able to hide his frustration in the former spin machine that ran the club and his 18-month exile from the board.
chuffed Jimmy stated "I am delighted to take on the chairmanship of such a great club. It`s truly an honour…"
The vertically challenged Italian added "I will always do my utmost for the club and serve it in a way the fans should be proud of. However, I want people to be under no illusions as to the task ahead."
There was gushing praise for brother Vince and the gaffer will be able to sleep a bit easier (though not if he makes 5 changes at Charlton) as Russo confirmed "… I am really most pleased that we have Brendan Rodgers on board for the future which, with some hard work, can be one to look forward to."
The Watford Observer have dubbed it "the ultimate boardroom comeback" and hey, here at VitalWatford we totally agree with them.
