Watford 'NO' to Nigerian Obiefule

Watford boss Brendan Rodgers undying love of midfielders clearly doesn`t stretch to Nigerians after he categorically ruled out any deal for Lyn Oslo FC`s Paul Obiefule.

Of his 5 signings since taking the reigns at Vicarage Road, Rodgers has snapped up 3 midfielders so it comes as a bit of a 'Brendan' surprise that Obiefule doesn't fit the bill!

The 22 year old Super Eagles international (and one time rumoured Bolton target) had been heavily linked with a loan switch to the Hornets in January by many a source but Rodgers insists "no Nigerian midfielder players" will be added to his squad…

…though you can`t help but feel is John Obi Mikel became available on a short season-long deal from Chelsea, then Rodgers would be first in the queue (rat and drainpipe spring to mind)!

Lyn Oslo FC had original revealed that the Hornets were on the verge of snapping up Obiefule after 'sporting director` Rof Magne 'sportingly` told Scandinavian sports hacks that "[Watford] wanted to take him on loan, with an option in the contract to buy him".

Whether a knee injury was to blame for the collapse of the deal (as hinted on Sky Sports) is unclear but it`s obvious now that Brendan Rodgers has turned his attentions to "looking for defensive cover" after insisting "offensively I am happy…Midfield I am happy".

Brendan, here at VitalWatford Towers, we`re happy that you`re happy.
