Hornet chief quits before facing fans

Hornet chief quits before facing fans

Watford`s former chairman Graham Simpson 'chose` (should we use that word rather loosely?) to quit his post ahead of the club`s EGM in December…now his interim replacement Andy Wilson has jumped ship just hours before a fans forum!!!

Not that the two events are linked mind you… the Vicarage Road faithful really aren`t that scary to face you know.

Wilson has resigned from his post of stand-in Watford chairman with immediate effect amid a whirlwind of speculation that the new board could announce a new name at the Hornets helm within the next 24 hours.

Speaking of Andy Wilson`s departure after just 2 months as top dog, the ever-so open and honest chief executive Julian Winter said "Andy had always made clear his intention to pass on the chairmanship of the club, as he had no desire to take on his role on an ongoing basis."

Winter, who is a breath of fresh air as the club`s official mouthpiece, added "Andy has left in place however a broad-based board with the club`s best interest at heart and it is from this pool of dedicated people that we will seek to appoint a new chair."

Current club directors (and Salad dodg... er, sorry we mean 'Brothers') Jimmy and Vince Russo then will no doubt be tipped as front runners for the vacant post alongside former chairman Stuart Timperley ,who is also an executive director on the new look Watford board.

Rumours of a Graham Taylor-Elton John chairperson dream team though are expected to be massively wide of the mark - though VitalWatford will continue to believe until someone tells us otherwise.

~Stop dreaming, the game has moved on from when they were here, Sure, we will always be grateful to Elton, all the money he has put in etc and No, i am not being dismissive of Sir EJ, I/we still know he loves the club and i m sure if a player was needed, the funds might appear, but let EJ be a fan and watch the club instead of expecting him to pump his money in again.
