Watford duo in Team of the Week

Watford duo in Team of the Week

Watford keeper Scott Loach and defensive rock Mike Williamson both got the nod for the Championship Team of the Week after a pair of clean sheets in the space of 5 days against Swansea and Blackpool.

A place alongside Cov`s Scott Dann in the Championship's finest caps a solid month for former Wycombe man Williamson, who has been the catalyst for change in a leaky backline. He even chalked up his first Hornets goal with a lovely little header to break the deadlock in the 2-0 win at Bloomfield Road.

As for Loach, well the rookie keeper has had a splendid few weeks. Not only is he fully deserving of his place between the sticks for this week`s division`s best 11 but he also collected his first England U21 cap under 2 weeks ago….

…all this from a player who was at Bradford on loan this time last season.

The Championship Team of the Week in full…

Loach [Watford]; Orr [Bristol City]; Dann [Coventry]; Williamson [Watford]; Spurr [Sheff Wed]; Routledge [QPR]; Skuse [Bristol City]; Gomez [Swans]; Surman [Saints]; Sagonowski [Saints]; Counago [Tractor Boys]

Elsewhere in the lower leagues and former Hornet Dominic Blizzard got himself a rather tasty slot in the heart of the Div 1 Team of the Week midfield after an impressive showing (and the opening goal) for Stockport in a 2-1 away day win at Carlisle.
