Hornets gaffer, Brendan Rodgers, insists Watford have their fate in "their own hands now" but has urged his troops to make sure they stay out of the relegation zone from this point on.
A 2-0 win over high flying Swansea gave reason for Brendan to be a jolly Rodger on Tuesday but Watford head to Bloomfield Road to face a Blackpool team they haven`t beaten away for 12 years today.
Yet there`s optimism in spades at Vicarage Road at the moment and Rodgers stated "Its going to be very tight between now and the end of the season, but we're very confident in our own ability. We've got some real good players who are starting to get better and the performance level has been steadily improving."
He added "We have won and kept clean sheets in 2 out of the last 3 league games now - which is very important. We need to maintain this winning formula".
But don`t be fooled, Rodgers` fully understands, thankfully, that it`s gonna be a dog fight to stay up and that his Hornets want to put the fear of god into a number of teams who think they`ve already done enough not to be dragged into the relegation scrap.
The Watford manager stated "We recognised quite early on that's its going to be a tough fight, but we're prepared, we'll be ready for it and we'll see the fruits of that, but I also said [in a team meeting] that there will be some team's who won't realise they're in it until its too late."
He added "I said to the players afterwards that we do not want to return to that [relegation zone] again,"
"It is in our hands now. We play a lot of teams around us. We are actually better than where we are in the league…so hopefully we stay above the dotted line now."
