After seeing his Watford troops let their football do the talking despite defeat to Chelsea in the cup, assistant coach Dean Austin reckons the Hornets must now "walk the walk" to get up the league.
The Hornets do battle with Swansea tonight - a side who haven`t lost in their last 16 games - and Austin is adamant that players have got to show what they can do.
The former Palace and Southend stalwart told the official club site "We know what we`ve got to do and we`ve got plenty of work on our hands…Hopefully we can get amongst them and give them a game".
Hopefully? Come on Deano, where`s the confidence?
Thankfully Austin is far more assured when it comes to the Hornets stamping their own authority on the game (and a rather shoddy looking pitch that`s bound to be leveller).
Brendan Rodgers` right hand man stated "...we will always emphasis our own game because we have got good players in our team - we can score goals and we can hurt anyone in our division if we can play and continue to play the way we have in the last 4 games".
"The ability of our team is not in question…"
That might be so Dean but the league position still holds a massive cause for concern with sides like Doncaster on a mini-revival and teams around us all scrapping it out for points.
Don`t fret though Hornet fans, Austin is certain things are gonna be just fine come May. He added "It`s in our own hands, we feel we have got more than enough to get ourselves well out of the mire. It`s alright talking the talk but you`ve got to walk the walk".
Ah, it`s almost enough to get us chest thumping with pride.
