Loach gets taste for the big time

Watford keeper Scott Loach has got a taste for the big time after a big, big week for the rookie stopper.

The Hornets youngster received universal praise for his performance between the sticks during Watford`s 3-1 cup defeat against Chelsea - less than 72 hours after making his international bow for the England U21s.

Now it seems that Loach - who was on loan at Morecombe and Bradford last season - is eyeing a regular seat at the top table.
The former Lincoln trainee glovemaster told the Hornets official club site "That`s where I want to be [playing against the top team] and that`s where everyone in the changing room wants to be".

He added "I didn't think we were that far from it to be honest, for 75 minutes I wouldn't say we were the better team but we were definitely on a par….We showed against a top Premier league team tonight for 75 minutes what we can do."

Watford gaffer Brendan Rodgers and goalkeeping coach (and legend) Alec Chamberlain flew out to watch Loach in action for England in midweek but they`re not the only ones with a close eye on our Scott.

Liverpool, Newcastle, Spurs and now Blackburn it seems are all keen on snapping up the undisputed potential in Loach but the good news is the rookie keeper reckons a stay at Watford could reap rewards.

He added "It's just a few things we need to put together and it won't be long until we're knocking on the Premier League door again."
